Stella worked with year 7 & 8 pupils during their active learning week. They learnt about the plastic Stella creates, how she works and were able to contribute to the artwork directly by manipulating the plastic in patterns ready to be pressed into sheet form. The colour palette and shape were chosen in response to the school’s logo and the pupils were also able to be involved in influencing the plastic layout and the feel of the overall design.
The artwork is situated in the main circulation area of their new Sixth Form building. The three skylights cast light through these 931 suspended translucent plastic diamonds, patterns change over the 5m length so that there is continued interest over the years for both pupils and staff.
